YOUR LOVE STORY...
Cam and I met when we were 17, in the final year of high school, through mutual friends. I was adamant I didn't want a boyfriend so I could focus on my studies, but when you know, you know. We had been together for 7 years before we got engaged - in that time Cam finished a degree, I'd marked 5 years at my corporate job, we travelled Europe for 3 months, bought a house, and adopted our gorgeous golden retriever, Kevin. We had a lot we wanted to achieve but we always grew together. In April 2022 over the Easter break we headed to Somersby Falls. I had zero suspicions Cam would propose because being a national park, pets aren't allowed and I was convinced Kevin would be a part of the proposal. When we arrived it was actually closed due to the amount of rain we'd had, but we proceeded to head down to the first waterfall and just took it super slow. The falls were so beautiful but really loud with the quantity of water coming down - so loud that I didn't hear a word Cam said until I turned around and saw him on one knee. It was perfect. I had chipped nails, oily hair, and activewear on but it shows none of that matters with the right person.
FINDING YOUR DRESS...
I'm a minimalist and have always gravitated to timeless silhouettes. Kyha was always the designer for me - her gowns embody the modern bride, they're elegant and sophisticated yet youthful and sexy. When I first met with Kyha it was like we shared the same brain - I had drawn similar dresses to an unreleased collection she already had in production. It was honestly meant to be. I had a clear vision for my second gown, and it ended up being an adaption of the 'Maras' gown which she released earlier this year. My first gown was dreamt up after I fell in love with 'Halston' and 'Davis' and though it may look effortless, it required an immense amount of work to achieve the super fitted bodice without the support of any back panels. The level of craftsmanship I was able to witness during my fittings will forever be the greatest gift and really made the entire bridal journey so much more special.
A HIGHLIGHT...
Definitely the ceremony. Our wedding was preceded by thunderstorms so when by some miracle it stopped raining and the sun came out we were all just so emotional - not just Cam and I, but our guests too. It made walking down the aisle so much more surreal. The lighting was perfect, we wrote our own vows and they were beyond - there wasn't a dry eye, it was just the most magical moment.
HONEYMOONING...
Our honeymoon was divine. We spent a month almost entirely in Italy. We started in Positano, island hopped through Capri and Ischia, drove from Sicily to Puglia, and finished in Lake Como with a brief rendezvous in Mallorca. Picking destinations that were visually stunning, had incredible cuisine, and were laid back were really important to us. We didn't want to feel like we had to sight see everyday, just beach hopped and ate our weight in pasta! It was truly a dream.
A WORD OF ADVICE...
Whatever is meant to be, will be. You can control almost everything leading up to the day, but things like the weather are out of your control. Your wedding isn't about the most picturesque conditions, getting the perfect 'shot' or having everything go to plan. You're with the people you love most and that's the biggest privilege of them all. Soak up every minute, appreciate all the small moments, and enjoy it. It's the most magical day!
