Justine: A KYHA Bride
WHEN AND HOW WE MET
Alex and I met through a mutual friend in 2010 during the Melbourne Cup. We were both staying at a mutual friends house during cup week. At the time we were both seeing other people, it wasnt until years later we crossed paths again and another mutual friend teed us up as were both floating about single.
OUR WEDDING LOCATION
We both really wanted a destination wedding, somewhere that wasnt too far for our friends and family to travel, but a place that everyone could enjoy and spend either a week beachside getting to know both sides of our families and friends. Byron Bay ticked all the boxes. We have always had such an amazing relaxing time there.
THE DRESS
What I initially wanted and what I needed up going with was very different. I always wanted a lot of beading and detailing. I started off by trying on dresses that were or similar style what I had in mind. The style of dress I thought I wanted didnt suit me at all, it was far too much, too busy. My first experience shopping on High St, Armadale was horrible but a laugh. KYHA was about the 5th showroom I went into, and it was my last. The girls were so kind, welcoming, and approachable, we were on the same page with style. I knew they would help me with my dress no matter what I picked. The Moss gown was on the sewing machine the day I went into the showroom as it hadnt been released yet, I was lucky to try it on and it was perfect!
YOUR WEDDING PARTY
I knew I wanted all 4 of my bridesmaids wearing the same style dress, I came across the ivory Bec & Bridge dress which was flattering for all the girls. They loved it.
WHAT WAS YOUR NON-NEGOTIABLE FOR THE DAY?
Probably my shoes, my nude Giuseppe Zanottis. Im obsessed and nothing works better with the Moss gown.
I was also in desperate need of my statement earrings for the reception, which I thought was a nice touch to add to the sleek style of the dress. I found these Dannijo Perla Drop earrings, they were out of stock and not to be re-made unless I made an order of 10 from the designer. I literally searched every site to buy them and found the last pair online for half price, it was meant to be!
HENS DAY
We had a girl's long lunch at Raes on Wategos in Byron, finishing off with a BBQ with guests who were in town for the wedding, it was perfect!
YOUR ADVICE FOR FUTURE BRIDES
Without sounding clich, enjoy every minute, if you are anything like me and a slight perfectionist when it comes to your wedding, a bit of an of advice I would say is, make a list of everything that is important to you for the day, whether it be big or small, jot it down. Give that list to someone you trust that will make it happen OR share it with a few friends if that is easier than making one person responsible.
This is something I didnt do and I wish I had. It's those little things you look back on and although the day was perfect just how it was, there are things that were missed.
