YOUR LOVE STORY
Mark and I have been together 14 years. We attended the same High School back in Western Australia, though we didn't speak much to each other while at school. He was two years older and I was a little shy.
Once Mark graduated we started dating, I remember all our friends being shocked to find out we were boyfriend and girlfriend. I think my greatest blessing is finding my person so early in life. We have been together through the many seasons of life.
FINDING YOUR DRESS
Finding my dress has been one of my favourite parts of the wedding planning journey. KYHA studios did both my ceremony and reception dress and I couldn't be more happy. I always knew my bridal aesthetic would be more classic with a modern day feel and KYHA Studios was always on the top of my designer list.
The process began with meeting with Kyha and trying on a selection of different gowns to see what silhouette and materials I was leaning towards and during that process, I fell completely in love with the Bisset gown. Kyha suggested making a customised Bisset by adding more volume to the skirt and a longer train for extra drama.
I remember my Mum coming with me to my first appointment and when I found my dream dress I had the classic cry moment, Kyha and the team got some sneaky shots of this and those photos I will forever cherish.
For my veil I decided on cathedral length with custom embroidery. It was special because the embroidery read 'Worth the Wait' in my Grandmother's handwriting. She was so proud seeing this detail as I walked down the aisle.
For my second dress I chose the Salacea gown. I wanted to feel classic yet modern with a touch of sexy. Kyha added a split and removed a sleeves and just like that, my perfect second dress was created.
THE INSPIRATION AND AESTHETIC FOR THE DAY
For our wedding Mark and I decided to get the help of a wedding stylist to help us bring our vision to life. We really liked classic white weddings with a timeless romantic feel. We created a mood board and the beautiful Laura from Weddings Of Desire did the rest. We also made sure to pick a venue that felt beautiful as it was, with the styling being the icing on the cake.We were completely gobsmacked when we saw the set up on the day. It was more than could have wished for, it was perfect.
THE NON-NEGOTIABLES
In regard to styling it was always going to be while florals, candles and chandeliers. Mark's only request was a DJ that knew our vibe of music and serving steak for dinner.
We also knew we wanted to include Mark's late mum (Ateca Naitanui) into our ceremony as she was so special to us and our families.
A HIGHLIGHT FROM THE DAY
I think a major highlight was doing our first look together in the chapel before the ceremony began. We both saw the florals set up and couldn't believe our eyes. It was just so beautiful and more than we expected. Sharing a special moment together to let go of our nervous energy was the best thing we could have done.
HONEYMOONING
I was that entrenched with work and wedding planning I didn't even think of planning a honeymoon at the same time. Mark and I agreed we would take it slow after the wedding and plan the honey moon for sometime in 2024. Egypt is on the top of our list at the moment!
A WORD OF ADVICE FOR BRIDES TO BE
If you can be overly prepared a few months out from your wedding date, this means the month lead up to the wedding is more relaxed and you can enjoy it. Once the day comes round, let it all go and soak up all those beautiful moments. It's all so worth it.
