Natalie Docherty: A KYHA bride
YOUR LOVE STORY...
We met at High School in Year 7, very much the traditional High School sweetheart story and have been together now for nearly 12 years.Sam organised a surprise weekend away at a secluded rainforest retreat in the Yarra Valley. When we arrived It was the middle of winter and we were sitting by the fire enjoying a cheese platter and a glass of red when he proposed.
FINDING YOUR DRESS...
Finding my dress(es) was the easiest and one of the most enjoyable parts to wedding planning. I loved elements of certain dresses I had seen but there was never a dress that was the one, and knew a custom dress was what I wanted. I wanted a designer that had a similar aesthetic to my personal style, but also someone I connected with and felt comfortable as custom is a very collaborative process. Kyha and the team at One Day Bridal were incredible, they created the perfect timeless dress and made the entire process a dream!
THE LOCATION...
Gardens House, Royal Botanic Gardens. We wanted a venue in Melbourne where we could have a marquee and have both the ceremony and reception in the one place so that guests didnt have to travel. The venue was hidden in endless greenery so it didnt feel like you were in the city.
THE INSPIRATION AND AESTHETIC FOR THE DAY...
We always wanted a very intimate wedding with a minimalist feel. The Style Co were our wedding planners and stylists were amazing, they nailed the brief and made it all come life.
A HIGHLIGHT...
A memorable highlight was when I changed into my party dress and we had a private moment just us two. I remember him seeing me for the first time in my party dress and his reaction is something Ill never forget, it was very special.
A WORD OF ADVICE...
It's quite overwhelming the amount of advice there is out there but for us we found that having a few non-negotiable elements to the wedding was very useful. It helps to keep everything in perspective and what the day is truly about, as you can go a bit crazy with the details, especially the closer you get to the day.
