YOUR LOVE STORY

Our love story began over 11 years ago at RMIT studying Communication Design. Since that first lecture together, weve travelled, bought a home, moved overseas, pursued our careers and shared many great wines together.

THE INSPIRATION AND AESTHETIC FOR THE DAY

Our original wedding was scheduled for Puglia, Italy 2020, however like many others we had to postpone and eventually cancel. Feeling defeated and disappointed we took stock of what we actually wanted and ending up eloping in early 2021 in Palm Springs.

Our inspiration and aesthetic for the original wedding was to let the venue and natural environment be the core visual idea. Everything we brought in had to compliment or contrast the space in a way that created visual harmony. In Puglia it was the rustic red earth contrasted against crisp white linen, flowers and the dress. In Palm Springs we applied that same idea and used the green garden oasis and dusty dry mountains as our canvas.

THE LOCATION

Palm Springs California is a magical place both for a wedding, elopement or holiday.

An added bonus is that world class photographers, videographers, hair and makeup are within a few hours drive from LA.

FLOWERS & STYLING NOTES

With just the two of us it seemed odd to deck the venue out in flowers. In the end we opted for two large pots of white flowers on plinths to form the alter. If youre getting married in a garden you have the added bonus of saving on flowers.

THE NON-NEGOTIABLES

Going from a wedding to an elopement the non-negotiable list drastically shrinks A great dress, suit, celebrant, photographer and venue. If only we knew this before planning the original wedding.

A HIGHLIGHT

When the celebrant and photographer left it was just us alone together to enjoy the moment. With no duties other than opening a bottle of champagne, and eating pasta (paying ironic homage to our first wedding) we both felt extremely present.

HONEYMOONING

The original plan was to use Puglia as a launch pad for a sun soaked European honeymoon. Thankfully theres no expiry date on a Summer holiday so were holding out hope that this will be the year.

A WORD OF ADVICE

Shifting from a wedding to an elopement focused our intention for what we wanted from our special day. If you feel like the wedding is growing into something thats larger than you both, try imagining it as an elopement to gain some perspective and applying that to your special day.
